Barron Gorge & Falls (20 mins)
Minimum of 2 passengers
Our 20-minute rainforest scenic product provides a ‘taste’ of this
incredible World Heritage listed natural environment. Cairns sits on a
floodplain to the south of the mouth of the mighty Barron River. The
Barron's headwaters start in the Mount Hypipamee National Park at an
elevation of 3,900 ft. The river flows 65 kilometres across fertile
volcanic soils of the Atherton Tablelands and then journeys through the
quaint village of Kuranda before cascading down the 850 ft high Barron
Falls and moving across the Cairns floodplains out into the Coral Sea.
The Barron Gorge is an impressive natural feature carved out of the Great
Dividing Range and the Falls at its head are intimidating to behold when
in full flight during the tropical wet season. This flight tracks up
through the Barron Gorge up to and over the Barron Falls, passing
over the world famous Skyrail Rainforest Cableway where it spans the
river and around the village of Kuranda, before turning for the coast and
descending over the lush eastern slopes of the Great Dividing Range on
the return leg with panoramic views over Cairns City and out to the
Reef.

Beyond the Range (30 mins)
Minimum of 2 passengers
Extend the rainforest scenic flight to 30 minutes and we start this experience
by climbing quickly with a clearance to 2,500 ft over the City of Cairns
headed West for the Great Dividing Range. Ascending the lush eastern
slopes, we arrive over beautiful Lake Morris, the remote water catchment
that supplies fresh water to Cairns and attracts an abundance of bird
life to its pristine waters. Passing over Copperlode Dam we’ll track
along the range and orbit around the impressive Stoney Creek Falls.
We continue on, flying into the mighty ‘Instagram’ worthy Barron Gorge.
Here we’ll gently climb, passing through 1,000 ft over the Skyrail
Rainforest Cableway and then circle over the Barron Falls and nearby
Kuranda rainforest village where the famous Skyrail and Kuranda Scenic
Railway begin their return journey back to Cairns. From Kuranda we turn
east for the coast and descend over the lush eastern slopes of the Great
Dividing Range with views of Double Island, Palm Cove and panoramic
views over Cairns City and out to the Reef on the return leg.

Inner Reef Explorer (30 mins)
Minimum - 2 passengers
This 30-minute flight departs the Cairns airport and tracks out from the
mainland with views of the city of Cairns and Trinity inlet, passing
False Cape, Mt Yarrabah, Mission Bay and Cape Grafton. From there we strike
out to the inner edge of the reef starting with Green Island, a 6,000 year-old
coral sand island that boasts its own native rainforest eco-system.
Tracking to the north, we explore the western side of Arlington Reef,
home to a diverse range of marine creatures – turtles, sharks and manta
rays.
Continuing north we’ll circle Vlassoff Cay a tiny sand island in the middle of the
reef that reduces to only a few hundred square metres in size at high
tide. From Vlassoff Cay we head west, over Upolu
Cay and back to Cairns taking in fantastic views of the North Queensland
coastline framed by the lush rainforest covered eastern slopes of the
Great Dividing Range.

Outer Reef Odyssey (40 mins)
Minimum - 2 passengers
This 40-minute reef scenic flight is our most popular product. By extending
the flight by another 10 minutes, we take in all the highlights of the
30 minute product, but extend the flight path out to the east, passing
Green Island and tracking to the outer edge of Arlington Reef – one of
the largest reefs in the northern section of the Great Barrier Reef
Marine Park. We traverse the very edge of the reef pushing toward the
edge of the Australian continental shelf where the water clarity is
unsurpassed, and the ocean floor drops away to over 1,000 feet.
The additional time allows us to push further north past Vlassoff Sand Cay
and on to the outer reaches of Michaelmas Reef to provide our guests
with the ultimate reef experience. The colours and textures of the reef
and clear blue waters framed by the massive North Queensland skies
provide unforgettable backdrops for the keen photographer to capture
once in a lifetime images. Our local pilot/guides provide informative
commentary and insights into the history of the reef and its abundance of
marine inhabitants. What to bring:
