Anlaby House and Garden Tour with Devonshire Tea
Some places you visit.
Some places you actually experience.
This is a personally guided tour of Anlaby, just outside the Barossa in South Australia.
Not self-guided. Not something you wander through on your own.
You’ll spend around three hours walking the property with someone who knows it, sharing the stories, the people, and how a place like this actually worked. You’ll see far more than you ever would on your own.
The house itself is only open as part of this tour.
The House Tour
Step inside one of South Australia’s great rural houses of the Edwardian era.
You’ll move through the principal rooms including the dining room, drawing room, smoking room and library, along with a selection of bedrooms.
There are details you would never notice on your own.
The flower arranging room.
A bathroom that still holds the chill of another time.
You’ll also get a look behind the scenes.
The butler’s pantry, scullery and kitchen give a real sense of the people who kept a house like this running, and the scale of life here.
The Garden Tour
The gardens are not just something to look at, they are part of how Anlaby lives and changes.
Explore 10 acres of heritage-listed gardens including:
Formal English garden areas
Shade houses and glass house
The walled vegetable garden, still in use
Rockery and water-wise plantings
You’ll see what is growing, what is changing, and how the gardens are being cared for now.
Devonshire Tea
Part way through, you’ll stop for a proper break.
Freshly baked scones with jam and cream, served with unlimited tea and coffee.
It’s not rushed. You’ve got time to sit, reset, and take it in.
