Your first stop is the iconic Cathedral Fig. Here, your morning begins with an engaging cultural presentation, featuring traditional rainforest tools and weapons. As the forest hums around you, your guide will share the story of rainforest settlement and its lasting impacts on the local Yidinji people.
A short 100-metre guided walk leads you to the Cathedral Fig itself. Estimated to be over 500 years old, this towering strangler fig is deeply significant to Yidinji culture. Beneath its vast canopy, you’ll learn how this remarkable tree is connected to traditional practices and life in the rainforest.
Lake Barrine
From there, enjoy a scenic drive to Lake Barrine. After the option to grab a coffee from the teahouse, you’ll gather by the lakeside as your guide shares a powerful Yidinji creation story, alongside insights into how modern science supports this ancient knowledge.
A gentle 150-metre walk brings you to two towering Kauri Pines, believed to be over 1,000 years old. Standing beneath these giants, your guide will explore the region’s timber harvesting history and how it transformed the landscape, leaving only remnants of the original rainforest.
Drop Off
At the conclusion of your experience at Lake Barrine, your guide will return you comfortably to your accommodation, leaving you with a deeper connection to Country and culture.
