Bridestowe Lavender Farm shuttle
Bridestowe Lavender Farm is the largest lavender farm in Australia, and in full bloom a wonderful sight to see. A fantastic gift shop with a multitude of lavender products and a cafe offering homemade lunches and morning teas. And of course, it is the home for Bobbie The Bear.
During the commercial lavender flowering season - December and January
The shuttles departs Launceston on most days, please check the availability calendar to check what dates and times the shuttle will depart.
It is a 50 - 60 minute drive to Bridestowe.
Most days there will be a morning shuttle, sometimes two.
If demand is great enough there will be an afternoon service.
You get to spend approximately 2.5 hours at the farm, enjoying the facilities, getting in amongst the lavender fields, visiting the shop, cafe and distillery.
Then 50 - 60 minute return to Launceston.
The shuttle requires a minimum of 4 adults to depart.
If minimum numbers are not obtained, passengers may be required to change
their time of departure to ensure the service operates, so passengers may be asked to change to a different shuttle time.
If booking numbers are low and even moving departure times does not meet
minimum numbers, then we will contact you to discuss options.
Pick up and drop off at all centrally located hotels in Launceston.
Alternatively the Launceston Transit Centre in Cimitiere Street will be the default location.
During the commercial lavender non flowering season - February to November
Even though the commercial lavender is not in full bloom, the gardens offer a large selection of other lavender varieties, and there is normally some purple flowers all year round. As well as a vast array of other plants, bulbs and flowers. So even though the commercial rows of lavender are not in full bloom, there is still lots of purple and colour to enjoy and photograph.
During the non flowering season there will be two options available to you;
1. Book a shuttle as above. The shuttle requires minimum 4 people to operate, or
2. If you wish to visit the farm but 2.5 hours at the farm would seem too long, then there is another possible option available. The Bay Of Fires Day Tour visits the lavender farm as its first stop, with the driver giving an interactive talk on the lavender before allowing some free time for photos and to visit the gift shop. All up a 40 minute visit. The Bay of Fires Day Tour departs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays, and requires minimum 2 people to operate.

Bay of Fires Day Tour
Tasmania’s east coast is fast becoming renown around the world for it’s fluffy pure white sands and crystal clear azure blue waters. Granite rocky outcrops covered with orange lichen jut out into the ocean to separate a large collection of hidden away beaches. No crowds, just relaxing peaceful locations that offer you a chance to reflect on how wonderful Mother Nature is. This is the Bay Of Fires.
From the beginning of September to the end of March, the first attraction we visit on the tour is the Bridestowe Lavender Farm, home of Bobbie Bear, for views of the lavender paddocks (commercial lavender in full flower mid December to third week of January). Your tour guide will provide an interactive talk on the lavender, where it comes from, why they grow it, how they process it. Then free time for photos and to visit the gift shop / cafe.
From the beginning of April to the end of August, the first attraction we visit on the tour is Legerwood Memorial Tree Carvings. Planted to celebrate Armistice Day, the end of the Great War. But in 2002 some were showing signs of disease and unfortunately a decision was made that they could not remain. But instead of just cutting them out, the community arranged for a very clever man with a chainsaw to come and remove the long branches and he carved figures into the trees. Each tree is dedicated to a specific World War I soldier who came from the local region.
Then onto the Myrtle Rainforest Walk on the Welborough Pass for a short walk through moss covered trees and ferns. Your tour guide will talk about all the different trees found in Tasmania's rainforests, with this walk showcasing Myrtles, Sassafras, Blackwoods and ManFerns.
At the Bay Of Fires collect a sample of fresh oysters straight from the farm—Lease 65 (weekday tours only, oyster farm not open weekends) which we enjoy as an entree to your lunch. We call into Binalong Bay for a beach experience on Tasmania's white east coast sand (as well as lunch stop), then Harbour Point to view the granite rocks covered with orange lichens, then a beach walk along the remote Taylor’s Beach. Fantastic.
As we depart the Bay Of Fires area, we stop for a break in the fishing village of St. Helens, before heading south through Beaumaris and Scamander, turning up into the St Mary’s Pass where we head inland to pass through the contrasting grazing lands of the Fingal Valley and Northern Midlands.
