Twilight Tunnels & Haunted Horizons

As the sun dips below the horizon and shadows stretch long across the valley, join Off The Beaten Track WA for a spine-tingling evening adventure through the hauntingly beautiful John Forrest National Park. Beneath a sky painted in fiery golds and purples, you’ll wander along the Railway Reserves Trail to the infamous Swan View Tunnel — Perth’s oldest and most haunted passageway.

Step onto the trail as the afternoon light filters through the trees, guiding you toward Eagle View Lookout. Here, you’ll pause to watch the sun melt into the horizon — the sky ablaze with colour as the Perth city lights begin to shimmer in the distance. It’s a magical moment where day transitions to night, and the valley below transforms into a sea of twinkling lights.

As dusk deepens, you’ll descend toward National Park Falls, glistening softly in the fading light, the sound of cascading water echoing through the quiet bush.

Then, for those who dare… the real adventure begins. Step inside the Swan View Tunnel, where whispers echo through the stone and the air turns cool and heavy. With only your head torch to light the way, the darkness feels alive — shadows shifting, distant drips echoing, and perhaps, if you listen closely, the faint traces of the tunnel’s haunted past.

It’s an unforgettable end to an evening of natural beauty, eerie history, and spine-tingling adventure.

Round out this unforgettable evening with a gourmet nibbles platter, herbal tea, and tales shared under the stars before your return journey to the city.
