Stick-Tomato Cave
Grand and inspiring, Stick-Tomato Cave (public access section only) is the only cave you can visit without a guide. This is a place to take your time and to discover at your leisure. The robust columns and stalactites offer a wonderful contrast to the delicate formations in Alexandra Cave.
Stick-Tomato Cave is an easy self-guided walk with an automated lighting system. There are two chambers to discover. In the first, natural light filters through the green tendrils of tree ferns, while the second is dark and mysterious.
This is a cave to be enjoyed by all ages. There are about 20 steps leading down into the cave.
If you want to explore Stick-Tomato Cave beyond the public access section then join an adventure caving tour.

Wonambi Fossil Centre
Step back in time and discover what Naracoorte was like over 200,000 years ago!
The Wonambi Fossil Centre shows you how the caves acted as pitfall traps, dens and roosts for more than 500,000 years, leading to a vast accumulation of skeletal remains of reptiles, birds and mammals.
Palaeontologists have been studying the fossils and bones in the caves for over 40 years. From them they have been able to identify the animals that roamed the plains. Around 130 species of animals have been recorded, from four of the major vertebrate groups: mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles.
The Fossil Centre recreates a time when megafauna roamed the landscape and the local animal community was more diverse than today.

Alexandra Cave
This spectacular cave is one of the Naracoorte Caves’ special treasures. Discovered in 1908, Alexandra Cave is full of speleothems – stalactites, stalagmites, and columns. You’ll be amazed by the contrast between delicate needle-like stalactites and massive twisting columns.
As you walk through, marvelling at how the structures seem to defy gravity, keep an eye open for magnificent helectites and flowstone.
This tour is a good introduction to caves and the geological processes that form them. Your guide will discuss the geology of the region and how the caves were formed.
Alexandra Cave is an easy 30 minute tour through three beautiful chambers. You’ll meet your guide in front of the Wonambi Fossil Centre and it’s a short walk from there to the cave entrance. This tour is ideal for families with small children.
*Please check-in at the Wonambi Fossil Centre 10 minutes prior to your scheduled booking time.*
